For over 150 years, Milwaukee has been home to a large community of people of Polish descent. The Milwaukee Polonia Project hopes to show the interweaving, intertwining family trees that resulted in this community. It is hoped that, eventually, all the families can be connected to one another. The Milwaukee Polonia Project is also a means to explore our common history and celebrate our shared heritage.

THE ACTUAL DATABASE OF THE TREE IS NOW LOCATED AT THE MILWAUKEE POLONIA PROJECT TREE at Tribal Pages. (We still have much work to do, so don't assume that families are shown completely.) YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSWORD TO ACCESS INFORMATION ON DECEASED INDIVIDUALS.

Featured Profile #30 - Stanley Maternowski

Stanley Maternowski (1873 - 1949):

From the Find A Grave entry for Stanley Maternowski
From Memoirs of Milwaukee County, edited by Jerome Anthony Watrous, page 999:

Stanley ran his contracting business first at South 14th Street and West Harrison Avenue and then later at South 15th Street and W. Oklahoma Avenue.  According to his obituary in the Milwaukee Journal, he retired in about 1934.  He and Frances went on to have more children than those mentioned above.  At the time of Stanley's death in 1949, they had seven sons and four daughters.

Astute readers of this blog may also remember that Stanley was in the room at the time Dominic Gapinski was shot and killed.  (See, Felony Murder - the Death of Dominic Gapinski.)
