For over 150 years, Milwaukee has been home to a large community of people of Polish descent. The Milwaukee Polonia Project hopes to show the interweaving, intertwining family trees that resulted in this community. It is hoped that, eventually, all the families can be connected to one another. The Milwaukee Polonia Project is also a means to explore our common history and celebrate our shared heritage.

THE ACTUAL DATABASE OF THE TREE IS NOW LOCATED AT THE MILWAUKEE POLONIA PROJECT TREE at Tribal Pages. (We still have much work to do, so don't assume that families are shown completely.) YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSWORD TO ACCESS INFORMATION ON DECEASED INDIVIDUALS.

Ways to Help

So you want to contribute to the Project.  That's the spirit!  Here are some suggestions:

1.  Contact us and send us your family tree, or an interesting story or newspaper article about a deceased family member.  (Unfortunately, we are extremely back-logged with information, so you can't expect it to show up on the blog right away.)  If you send us a family tree, we generally will try to keep "private" any individual who is presumed to be still living.

2.  Review our information on the database.  If you see any errors, please inform us.

3.  Contact us and offer to do look-ups at the Milwaukee Public Library or Vital Records at the Milwaukee County Register of Deeds.

4.  We are looking for a copy of We, the Milwaukee Poles, by Thaddeus Borun (Milwaukee, 1946).  If you have a copy, or have access to a copy, and would be willing to do look-ups, please let us know.
