For over 150 years, Milwaukee has been home to a large community of people of Polish descent. The Milwaukee Polonia Project hopes to show the interweaving, intertwining family trees that resulted in this community. It is hoped that, eventually, all the families can be connected to one another. The Milwaukee Polonia Project is also a means to explore our common history and celebrate our shared heritage.

THE ACTUAL DATABASE OF THE TREE IS NOW LOCATED AT THE MILWAUKEE POLONIA PROJECT TREE at Tribal Pages. (We still have much work to do, so don't assume that families are shown completely.) YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSWORD TO ACCESS INFORMATION ON DECEASED INDIVIDUALS.

Requesting a Password?

Because there are living individual listed on the tree, we don't give out the password.  However, you may find some of the following information helpful:

If You Wanted to Request a Password Because:

  1. You Are Seeking More Information on Family Members.

You don't need permission to view most of the information on the Tree.  The Security Sign-in square on the site is very misleading, but I can't get rid of it. You don't need a password to access any information on the tree as far as deceased individuals are concerned.  I don't give the password to access the information on living individuals because of privacy concerns.

  1. You Want to See the Source Materials Behind the Information.

The source material citations on the Tree are misleading because I don't add the source citations to the Tree. The source citations that are there are just titles left from when I uploaded the initial tree. If you are looking for the sources for any particular fact, let me know, and I can tell you what it is or e-mail the source material to you.

  1. You Want to Add the Information on Your Family to the Tree.

We'd love to include your family’s information on the Tree.  However, you will have to send that information to the Administrator as he is the only person who can edit the Tree. (You can contact him at milwaukee.polonia@gmail.com) He can accept just about any useful format. In the past, people have sent him ged.com files, printed descendant reports, or granted him access to their Ancestry trees. We can't always add your information right away, especially if you have a lot of information to contribute, but we do make a conscientious effort to include it as soon as possible.

  1. If You Want to Learn More About the History of Our Community.

We suggest you visit the Milwaukee Polonia Project blog. Also, some photographs from the community can be found on our Facebook page. If you have any photographs of Milwaukee family members from before 1950, we invite you to post them there.

  1. If You Want to Connect with Other Member Working on the Project or in the Community.

There is no formal structure among the people working on the Project and no real method to send messages to all of them at once. If you would like to try to contact some family members in the community, we can post a message for you on the blog. We normally do this as part of the monthly status update.

  1. Some Other Useful Information About the Tree.

It is sometimes easier to understand the familial relations by using the “tree” mode, rather than the “family” mode.

If you see any errors, please let the Administrator know so that he can correct them.

There appear to be some glitches in the tree so that information on deceased individuals is blocked as if they were still living. I don't know how to fix this, but if you run across one of those, let me know and I can send you the information on that deceased individual.
